Elves' Chasm

Elves' Chasm is a famous waterfall in the Grand Canyon. Just a short way up a tributary from the Colorado river, it's easy access. This shot was taken during our midday stop for lunch. The pool at the base is swimmable and you can actually get up behind the waterfall and jump into the pool.
This was taken from a tripod due to the long shutter time. The length of the exposure allowed for the silky texture of the water. A higher aperature was required to balance the exposure and, as such, the whole photo is within the depth of field. Compositionally, the diagonal slope of the water from upper left to lower right is eye capturing. The bump it takes in the middle is an added bonus, as that's right on one of the thirds lines.
